cherry blossoms.

yesterday was gloomy, gloomy here in new york and i was holed up all day finishing a project. when i finally finished my work, i decided i needed to turn away from the computer and recreate a little bit of one of my favorite springtime pleasures: cherry blossoms.

these guys could not have been simpler to make. i had saved a bit of pink tissue from a gift i received, and i cut it up into like-sized strips. i folded stacks of three or four sheets accordion-style and tied each bundle with string around the middle. next, i folded each accordion in half and then spread the accordion out from the center into a circle. after that, all that's left to do is to wrestle each individual sheet outward from the center, just like a flower.

et voila. cherry blossoms inside on a rainy day. and if i do say so myself, think they look mighty like these real ones i snapped last week.

tiny, notes.

these tiny envelopes reminded my mom of last year's valentine's project, so she slipped them into a gift for me at christmas. i've been waiting for the perfect moment to use them and with valentine's day around the corner, i thought i'd test them out.

scoping out spots around this place where he's likely to notice something so, very tiny.

i think i found a few.

yes.

other things:
holes of happiness.
a valentine's flower shop.
red field notes. watch this.

paper hearts.

i scrounged around in the boxes under our bed and found these guys from last february. new city, new wall.

the sun's coming out in bits and bursts today and i'm home from work, tying up loose ends and making doctor's visits. nothing extraordinary, just the routine stuff.

wishing you all a lovely weekend.

other things:
this awesome duo, just in time for love day.
if you can get your hands on this piece, do.

cedar birds.

found in a box of old things. wintry inspiration for a tiny space.

and other things:

* these blossoms already have me itchy for spring breezes.
* winter scenes caught on film.
* a seriously impressive list of hot chocolate recipes.
* my tribute to the stars.
* and this piece, which i've been thinking about non-stop since sunday.
